Introductions are in order, methinks.

handshake.pngWelcome to my new blog. I feel like it’s a good idea to set up some ground rules for this blog, so that I can come back to this list and make sure I’m keeping up my end of the bargain. I will also include some guidelines for you, the reader.

Expectations of me:

1. I will post consistently, on a defined schedule. Most likely, that will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday.

2. My posts will center around topics at the intersection of Personal Finance and Faith. What types of topics does that include? Well, to name a few: discussions of simplicity, churches taking on massive amounts of debt to fund growth, what and how much money we should give away, how much money should we save and to what purpose is it saved, social responsibility, credit cards, and how people of other faiths and belief systems (other than my own) “do” money. For more detailed information on such things, check out the About page.

3. Certain topics fire me up when it comes to finance. I reserve the right to rant about such things. An example of said rants will be coming up soon, regarding a family profiled in a magazine article that are living paycheck-to-paycheck on $150,000 a year and they can’t figure out why or how.

4. Advertising. I will have advertising on this site. These advertisements will be in the form of unobstrusive text ads. If they bother you or you feel like they get in the way, leave a comment or hit me up with an email.

Expectations of you:

1. Don’t just sit there, say something!!1 Blogs are decent when there’s one person sharing their experience. They’re incredible when people from every walk of life share their thoughts and opinions on a given topic. Though I’m not certain, it would seem that this would be even more true when we talk about faith and money.

1-b. Respect. Short addendum to rule 1 for you: show some damn respect. I’ve been on the Internets a long time and while I admit that it is possible, it is very unlikely you will ever change anyone’s mind/belief/opinion in the context of a comment on a blog. I know, I know, it seems like they should just listen to you, but it really doesn’t very often happen.

Put another way: if you don’t have something constructive or encouraging to say, expect your comment to be moderated to say, “I like ponies.” Cause I bet you do. Like ponies, I mean. Who doesn’t?

I hope this blog will be useful resource and more importantly an encouraging resource. Thanks for reading!

YO YO YO I liked the other template more. - Tank

It was leet… but not leet enough. I like this one better.

So if you have something off topic (like an outrageous urinal configuration) are you gonna post it on the other blog, or is the other one resting in peace (like the kite blog)? - Brad

Great question! For the uninformed, my previous blog covered a wide variety of topics, among them urinal configurations. Anyway, posts of this nature will probably end up on my old blog, if they’re good enough to warrant all the effort that requires. If they have a slight relationship to PF (personal finance) or faith, they’ll end up on the “Offbeat” tag on this blog, which from the homepage occupies lower right corner under whatever the current post is.

It is looking much better when it doesn’t have that ‘leet filler text’ over and over. We will just have to see where the rabbit trail leads.

I’m looking forward to this blog being like a six-lane highway of Eric’s leet financial roxxor-ness to our lesser money-smart-ness.

Looks great!

Casey says:

i like it.
and i’m excited about it.
and i can’t use cool “leet speak” like mrs. d10.
and i’m jealous.

One quick question. What do you have against Wednesday? You capitalize Monday, Friday, AND Saturday, but Wednesday is lowercase. Your Wednesday’s shall be cursed until you fix it.

Eric says:

Fixed.

You realize you constitute 42.8% of the comments on this post as of this comment, tank?
